Antique Hudson River Painting Lemon Gold Picture Frame Massive Luminist 12x24

Description

This outstanding c. 1885-1895 gesso on wood picture frame retains original (dirty) lemon gold and bronze powder gilt surface overall and measures 21" x 32" overall with 11 1/2" x 23 1/2" reveal and 12 1/8" x 24" back rabbet opening.  The molding is 4 1/2" wide x 4" deep and has rococo-inspired deeply molded edges with ribon designs in the hand-finished closed corners accented in leaf.  The frame is sturdy and usable and has some losses lower right as pictured.  Additionally, you will note fly specks and some discoloration the the lemon gold cove as well as thin line losses in the gesso where the outer designs meet the lemon cove.
