Great curved oval wood photo frame. It is painted silver with gunmetal gray accents. It appears that the silver on the front was originally lacquered. As can be common after all these years the lacquer has some un-even gold tone from age-photos 7 & 8. There is some faint scuffing to the paint, again as is common, due to age and storage. The raised carved floral decors are 2 1/4" long x 1/2" wide and are all intact. There is an approx. 1" long thin crack on a side rim-last photo. I can not tell if it is just in the paint or actually goes into the wood. The back fabric is original and is a cotton velveteen in wonderful condition with no damage-just some light wear to the nap. The easel stand is intact and holds frame firmly upright. The ribbon strand connection between easel and flat back evidently broke and has had it's remaining attached sides neatly trimmed-photo 6. I am not sure if one side of back having curved tabs and other side nails is original. But I can see a really good reason for it. You pull the nails and slide the back out from under the tabs. This would keep the tabs from breaking from being bent for inserting photos.
The picture in the frame is a photocopy not a period piece. The backside has a paper label reading : A Midwest Studios Portrait Portland Oregon. I tried to research it but can not tell if it was an actual photography studio or a frame company. I can say when I found images for the name they always had wood frames in colors, some with great shapes and sometimes with some form of carved decor. It also appeared their glass was curved bubble glass. Our glass appears to be older with just an occasional flea bite here and there but is a flat glass (probable replacement). The frame is a bit difficult to measure due to it's curves. But laying flat, using outer most edges it is approx. 13 1/2" tall x 9 1/4" wide. Using the widest points of photo area visible it is approx. 11 5/8" x 7 3/8". Package has to go Priority due to size & weight
We are seniors and as my husband has health problems I try to only do errands, like Ebay shipping, on Tues. and Fridays.
