Offered is an early authentic copy porcelain
miniature painting by French historical artist Nicholas L.F. Gosse. This amazing little piece of history depicts the meeting of Napoleon Bonapart of France, meeting with Czar Alexander of Russia, King Frederick William and Queen Louisa of Prussia in conjunction with the July 6th 1807 signing of the Treaty of Tilsit - ending the war between Imperial Russia and the French Empire (At the expense of Prussia). The history is fascinating and this painting became one of French Artist Gosse's most important works. The very large original that this minature is based on, was commissioned by the Palace of Versailles, where it is on display to this day. It is titled and signed by the artist.
The piece is 2 3/4" across and was the lid to a small ceramic container.
